New Facebook Page Layout Rolling Out to All
Actually, Facebook first introduced a new look for Pages back in March, so you’ve probably been seeing it here and there. But come June 13, it will be rolled out to every Page … including yours. So here’s what you need to know.
(For a quick visual guide to the new look, I highly recommend you check out my friend Shelley Roth’s video.)
1. Streamlined Timeline
Facebook’s left-right-left-right timeline has been drawing criticism since it was first released, and I for one am happy to see it go. With the new layout, you’ll see all posts presented on the right side of the page in a single column, from newest to oldestas God intended. Huzzah!
2. No More Custom Tabs
Remember those 111 x 74 pixel images you created to draw attention to the apps just below your cover image? Sorry, but they’ve gone to Facebook Heaven as apps are moving to (1) a simple row of text-only buttons at the top and (2) a vertical list in the left column.
3. Key Info in the Left Column
With all that lovely real estate opened up on the left side of the Page, Facebook has filled it up with information about your business. The sections will vary from business to business (for example, brick-and-mortar businesses will have different options from brands). For most Pages, the People (number of likes, friends who like the Page, etc.) and About (your description and website URL) sections default to the top two positions;beyond that, you can organize them any way you want:
There are many more tweaks involved in this update, but that should be enough to get you started. Questions? Hit me up in the Comments or go toaskrachelparker.com!
