Happy New Year! A Few Thoughts on 2013

Jan 2013

Happy, happy New Year, everybody!

As we kick off a brand-new year full of possibilities, we’ve got a few thoughts on what might lie ahead over the next 12 months:

RfSFfWhile I’m not calling them “predictions,” there are a few developments that I could see having a big impact on the online marketing world in 2013:

  1. A shift in focus away from SEO and towards content development. In other words, online marketers will get tired of the cat-and-mouse game with Google (Penguin, anyone?) and start giving the search giant what it’s wanted all along: quality content that human beings actually want to read (or watch or listen to).
  2. Continued momentum for content curation. The amount of content created on the Web every single day is simply staggering. We need the individuals who step forward to explore the Web, haul in the best of the best content, and give us easy access to it in an easily digestible format.
  3. Big changes in the social media world. Yes, 2013 will be the year that Facebook loses its perch atop Mount Social Media. Since the company went public, there have just been too many changes that have ticked off too many people, especially businesses. So who will fill the void? Only time will tell …

So those are a few things I think see on the horizon for us marketers in 2013. What do you think … and what’s going on with your business in the new year? Let us know in the comments—we’d love to hear from you!

  1. […] Big changes in online marketing. Online marketing strategist Rachel Parker changed the focus on her business last year, and with good reason. Parker says the online world is evolving, and in this brief video and transcript she reviews some of what she boldly predicts as trends this coming year. Some of those may include a emphasis on content development over SEO on Websites and (gulp!) the decline of Facebook as the unrivaled leader in social media marketing. Resonance […]

Well, let’s just say I’m glad I hired Rachel because I couldn’t have done it without her support and expertise. I loved how she used my voice and words to craft content that helped me reach...

  • Professionalism and Sincere Desire to Help

I just didn't seem to be able to find the time or the right words to explain what I offer and how my company helps people accomplish their goals. Rachel was able to ask me some questions, do some research and capture my voice while writing my website copy exactly as I needed it to be written.  Now, the copy on my website is much more professional than what I would have created and having this task handled by Rachel and Resonance freed up my time to complete other tasks I am better suited to...
