Social Media Resource: Post Planner for Facebook
So you're sitting in front of a blank Facebook status update and have absolutely no clue what to post. Which is funny (in a sad way), because yesterday you were chock full of clever, engaging ideas ... if only you could have created all those posts at once and spread them out over the week.
Or you're getting ready to head out on vacation and actually thinking about taking your laptop along because no one's here to post in your absence.
Enter Post Planner, a new Facebook app that lets you schedule status updates in advance. Sure, there are other third-party apps that let you schedule posts (like my beloved HootSuite), but Post Planner does have some interesting features that make it pretty unique:

- Repeating Posts: Schedule a single post to repeat every set number of days, weeks, or months—perfect for event reminders.
- Status Ideas: This nifty feature lets you flip through and select ready-to-go turnkey posts, including questions, fill-in-the-blanks, seasonal content, and other engaging options.
- Multiple Postings: Save time by posting the same update to multiple pages or groups.
- Targeted Posts: Target your posts by followers' language or country.
The one drawback I've found is that Post Planner has not enabled tagging of profiles or pages, one of my favorite engagement strategies. Let's hope they add that capability soon.
The basic features of Post Planner are free of charge, but for the fancier stuff, you'll need to sign up for a premium plan: Pro at $4.95/month or White Label at $14.95/month. Fortunately, each plan has a 30-day trial period that lets you try before you buy, a nice feature.
So, have you used Post Planner to implement your Facebook posting strategy? Let us know how it's going in the comments—we'd love to hear from you!
